戴维受伤卧床，哥哥莱纳斯上门探病，送上一张自己设计的塑料吊床。戴维拜托他帮我照看着点萨布丽娜，用 keep an eye on someone（照看、盯住）把话说得又软又客气；莱纳斯满口答应，其实早就打算自己带萨布丽娜出海。想学怎么用客气话求人、又怎么听出话里的深意，这段最耐看。

戴维因为在口袋里塞了香槟杯摔伤，缝了二十三针，躺在床上养伤。哥哥莱纳斯来探病，送他一张带活动翻板的塑料吊床，还说是今早专门为他开工赶出来的。戴维很感动，说 What a brother（真是个好哥哥），接着请莱纳斯帮忙：I know how these things bore you, but would you mind keeping an eye on Sabrina for me?（我知道这事无聊，可你能不能帮我照看她）。莱纳斯说他早就想到了，下午就带萨布丽娜去出海。戴维这才说出真心话：I was blind, that's why. It's been Sabrina and I since we were kids.（我瞎了眼，我跟萨布丽娜从小就认识），还说自己老是 see her for the tree（见树不见林）。想学求人、推心置腹、以及话说三分留七分，这段最典型。

下一章 · 11blot out抹掉这场戏：出海听老歌聊心事「照看、盯住某人」，留意别让他出事。比如 Can you keep an eye on my bag?（你能帮我看一下包吗）。语气很客气，适合拜托别人。
最接近的是 can't see the forest for the trees，表示只看细节、看不到全局。剧里说 couldn't see her for the tree，意思是天天在她身边，反而一直没看见她。
make up your mind。比如你拿定主意了吗：Have you made up your mind? 剧里说 You've already made up your mind.（你已经拿定主意了）。
意思是「出错的举动、走错的棋子」，常和 no 连用，比如 One false move and we're ruined.（一步走错就全完了）。医生叮嘱、下棋、谍战里都爱用，带点紧张感。
看语气。这里「真是个好哥哥」表面是夸，其实带着几分无奈和反讽——戴维一边感动，一边也知道这哥哥管得太多。
