夜深了，莱托勒接岗，先问气温和冰情，一句 almost freezing point（快到冰点）听着平常，却是在为浮冰做准备。他命令瞭望哨 keep their eyes skinned（瞪大眼睛盯紧）小浮冰和 growlers（碎冰山），前方还是出现了冰，船随即停车。想学怎么下达警告、怎么描述危险，这几句又短又实用。
命令瞭望哨「瞪大眼睛盯紧」：keep their eyes skinned

夜航值守，莱托勒接班后先确认冰情与气温：快到 freezing point（冰点）且还在下降，再过一小时就进拉布拉多寒流。他提醒，哪怕有 the slightest bit of haze（一丁点薄雾）也要减速，并命穆迪 call up（呼叫）瞭望哨，让他们 keep their eyes skinned（瞪大眼睛盯紧）小浮冰和 growlers（碎冰山），还交代 pass it on（往下传）给下一班。不久前方报告有冰，随即停车，按计划上报方位。另一艘船同样因冰停船，用 on account of ice（因为结冰）的说法通知泰坦尼克号。整套对话都是海上交接班的标准说法。
A1–C2 是欧标等级。点一个等级后，比它高的卡片会变淡，播放到那里不会自动暂停。

that's about 连读，the lot 降调收尾，语气越随意越稳。
Keys, codes, and the cat's food, that's about the lot. 钥匙、密码、猫粮，差不多就这些了。

growlers，指露出水面很低、几乎看不见的小冰山，对船很危险。片中说 special watch for small ice and growlers，就是特别警戒这两样。
on account of。片中用来说明船因为结冰而停下：stopped on account of ice。它后面接名词，比 because 更正式一点。
英式口语，等于「好嘞、行」，答应别人的吩咐时用。片里接到命令后回一句 Right-ho，很轻松随意。
pass it on。片里交代瞭望哨换班时把警戒令往下传，用的就是 Tell 'em to pass it on。日常也可以说 pass it on to someone。
