把責任一句話壓到對方身上：不是事情出錯，是你沒攔住。它把慌亂轉成指責，也是這個家裡所有衝突的固定句式。

震驚之餘追究對方責任時用，語氣重；在事情還沒查清時說，容易冤枉人。

把慌亂問成一句正經的追問：不是問為什麼，而是逼著大家面對下一步。危機裡最常聽見的一句。

事情已經發生、需要趕緊商量對策時用，語氣著急但剋制；對已經自責的人說會顯得在追責，先安撫再用。
What are we supposed to do now? ／ How are we going to fix this?

下一章 · 12it was all me全是我乾的這場戲：母女變熊貓當眾坦白字面是「好得不像是真的」，指好事順得讓人不敢相信，常帶一點懷疑。旁邊人感嘆 Too good to be true，就是覺得一切順利得可疑，果然出了事。
喊 Get a hold of her，字面是「抓住某人」；get a hold of someone 也可指「聯絡上某人」。亂作一團時用來喊人去攔住、制住某個人。
意思是「這下糟透了」，形容局面徹底失控、後果嚴重。儀式中途出事，旁邊人脫口而出 This is a disaster，語氣比 this is bad 重得多。
說 How could you let this happen。let this happen 是「任由這種事發生」，帶強烈責怪，等於質問對方為什麼沒攔住。
revered 是「受人敬奉的」，ancestor 是「祖先」，合起來就是「受人敬奉的祖先」。儀式開頭的禱告 Oh, Sun Yee, revered ancestor，就是在呼喚祖先孫儀。
