Chapter 8 of 27 · 3'40"
Holed up after the quake, the group inventories supplies and keeps getting distracted — first by Franco's real revolver, which everyone handles while someone asks to "put that down, please." Then a single Milky Way becomes a standoff: "Guys, the only issue is I kind of need the Milky Way."
The Fight Over the Milky Way
After the quake, the survivors hole up in Franco's house and start boarding up. They inventory supplies — whiskey, wine, tequila, Nutella, pizza — and Franco shows off a real revolver kept from a movie, which the others nervously handle. Then the mood turns on a candy bar: one man insists he needs the Milky Way for his low blood sugar.
The chapter plays the apocalypse as a sitcom about roommates. The world may be ending, but the group's real business is supplies and who gets what, and the comedy keeps deflating the stakes: 'Look, just because a bunch of people fell into a hole outside doesn't mean we can't have some fun.' The inventory scene runs like a shopping list — whiskey, wine, Nutella, a revolver from a movie — and the gun becomes a bit everyone keeps milking until someone begs, 'Could you put that down, please? Loaded.' Then the room turns on a single candy bar. One member claims he needs the Milky Way because 'I have low blood sugar,' which is either a medical fact or the most convenient excuse in the room, and the argument over fairness collapses into jokes about cutting up someone's T-shirt. The chapter is about how quickly people rebuild ordinary pettiness inside a disaster.

“Guys, the only issue is I kind of need the Milky Way.”
It opens like a serious objection and then shrinks to one candy bar, which is the joke.

“We're a bunch of best friends hanging out. It's like a sleepover.”
Calling disaster lockdown a sleepover renames the horror, and that denial is the point.

He says he has low blood sugar and that if his endorphins drop too low he'll be 'a nightmare to be around,' so he should get the candy rather than share it.
He says he kept it from a movie — a functioning revolver from the set, which he calls 'Old Faithful.' The others are nervous that it's loaded and real.
It's a real, loaded revolver, not a prop, and the group keeps passing it around and joking with it. Someone asks repeatedly for whoever holds it to put it down before it goes off.
The inventory includes whiskey, wine, tequila, Nutella, cheese pizza, eggs, bananas, apples, bacon, steaks, pancake mix, cereal, milk, and two kinds of weed — plus a Milky Way.
