Chapter 13 of 30 · 5'03"
It is the morning of the Steve Madden IPO, the biggest day in Stratton's history. Jordan arrives late, stressed, and finds an employee cleaning the fish tank instead of preparing for the launch. He explodes, humiliates the man in front of everyone, and then turns to the floor to rally his troops: "We are here to make money."
❝ Monologue · 6 lines Jordan's morning ritual
A deadpan checklist makes an outrageous morning sound routine.
❝ Monologue · 7 lines Jordan Fires an Employee on IPO Day
On the morning of the Steve Madden IPO, Jordan wakes up fighting with Naomi, then rushes to the office for the biggest day in the firm's history. Everything has to run tight, but he finds a young broker cleaning the fish bowl instead of working, and the celebration nearly turns into a firing.
The scene is a study in how Jordan runs a room. His morning begins with a fight and a routine of pills and steam, but at the office he is fully in character: the biggest payday of the firm's life has to be perfect, and anything that threatens that becomes an example. The fish-bowl kid is not punished for the bowl; he is punished in front of everyone, so the floor learns what new issue day demands. Then Jordan flips instantly into a coach, telling the room, "We are here to make money" and getting them fired up for the launch. The whiplash is the point: rage and inspiration are both tools, and both are aimed at the same thing.
A1–C2 is the CEFR scale. Cards above the level you pick fade, and playback will not auto-pause on them.

“A real wolf pit, which is exactly how I liked it.”
He calls his own floor a wolf pit and adds that he likes it that way.

“This is what happens when you fuck with your pets on new issue day!”
A brutal line that turns a firing into a lesson the whole floor will quote.

“Take your little bow tie, get your shit, and get the fuck out of my office! You understand?”
He weaponizes a bow tie and explodes with pure workplace rage.

Ah, yes, my morning ritual. First I'd get up and fight with Naomi about whatever it is I did the night before. Next was a steam so I could sweat out the drugs still in my system. Then I'd assess the damage. Drown out my eyeballs. Take my "back pills" to get the day started, then seek to make up with Naomi.
Hey, everybody, listen up! This is what happens when you fuck with your pets on new issue day! Take your little bow tie, get your shit, and get the fuck out of my office! You understand? Get the fuck out! Everybody on point! We are here to make money. Everybody on point. A real wolf pit, which is exactly how I liked it.

It is the day a company's stock is first offered to the public. For Stratton, the Steve Madden IPO is the firm's biggest new issue day yet.
It means sharp, focused, and ready. Jordan is telling everyone to be at their best for the launch and to stop wasting time.
He fights with Naomi, sweats out the drugs in a steam, checks the damage in the mirror, takes his back pills, and tries to make up with her — a routine the narration treats almost like a joke.
