乔陪贝蒂在片场外景街散步，她讲起自己 picture family（电影世家）的往事：片厂嫌她鼻子斜，她去 had it fixed（找人把它弄好了），结果他们又嫌她演技。乔逗她 Come clean（坦白交代），还说夜里会为错过的特写痛哭。想学怎么讲一段自嘲的往事、怎么轻轻打趣对方，这几句全是口语。

下一章 · 17wipe out彻底清除掉这场戏：摊牌说不爱阿蒂了意思是「坦白交代、说实话」。乔逗贝蒂说 Come clean, Betty，就是「说实话吧，贝蒂」，朋友之间用来催对方讲出实情，语气轻松。
crazy about。台词里 they were crazy about my nose，就是「他们对我的鼻子赞不绝口」，形容对人或物着迷，很口语。
意思是「找人把它弄好了」。贝蒂说自己鼻子有点斜，went to a doctor and had it fixed，就是去医生那儿把鼻子整好了，是使役结构 have something done。
意思是「什么也比不上」。乔说 Nothing like being twenty-two，就是「二十二岁真是再好不过」，用来夸某个年龄或状态好得没得比。
意思是「途经、顺路绕一下」。台词里 by way of Washington Square，就是「绕道华盛顿广场」，表示路线经过某个地方。
