少年犯米克被当面一条条念罪状，他只会说 It was an accident（那是意外）；对方又甩来 You're a real class act（你可真是个人物），讽刺到底，还说 You would've killed somebody sooner or later（你早晚都得弄死个人），叫他别 bullshit yourself（自欺欺人）。数罪、拆穿借口、撂狠话，这几句在争执里特别有用。

审问室里，一个少年犯被当面清点旧账：工作人员念出他害死一个八岁男孩，他辩解 It was an accident（那是意外），对方冷冷回他 An accident（意外？），又一口气摆出 Driving a stolen vehicle（驾驶偷来的车）、assault with a deadly weapon（持械伤人）、attempted robbery（抢劫未遂）、breaking and entering（非法入室），讽刺他 You're a real class act（你可真是个人物）。有人直接说 That was no accident（那才不是意外），还断言 You would've killed somebody sooner or later（你早晚都得弄死个人），让他别 bullshit yourself（自欺欺人）。可另一段谈话里又有人温和地说：想聊就聊，or anything else, I'm here（或者别的什么，我都在）。审问和关照，两种语气都用得上。
A1–C2 是欧标等级。点一个等级后，比它高的卡片会变淡，播放到那里不会自动暂停。
“I see you're responsible for the death of an eight-year-old boy.”
我知道，那场事故里死去的八岁男孩，责任在你。
一句平静的指控，把最重的后果留在句尾，比喊叫更压人。
I see you're responsible for (something).
需要冷静指出对方责任时用；对上级或正式场合也适用，不要当玩笑说。
I see you're behind all this. ／ So you're the one responsible for this.
正式
responsible 重音在第二音节，for 轻读带过。
I see you're responsible for the delay on this report. 这份报告拖延，我看责任在你。
“You're a real class act.”
你可真是够体面的。
把夸奖词反着用，一句就把对方的恶行钉在墙上。
You're a real (something).
反讽熟人时用；语气要刻意平静，对不熟的人别说，容易翻脸。
You're a piece of work. ／ What a gentleman you are.
口语
real 稍拖长，class act 两词咬清。
You're a real class act, showing up two hours late. 你可真体面，迟到两个小时。
“How you never did any time here before is a miracle.”
你居然从没在这儿坐过牢，简直是奇迹。
用主语从句把「奇迹」扣在对方逃避惩罚上，讽刺又快又狠。
How (someone) never did something is a miracle.
讽刺对方侥幸时用；口语里常见，正式文书别用。
How he got away with it is a mystery. ／ That you're still free amazes me.
中性
How 起句升调，miracle 重音在首音节。
How you never miss a deadline is a miracle. 你居然从没误过截止日期，真是奇迹。
“And now you're telling me what just happened was an accident?”
现在你是想告诉我，刚才出的事是意外？
把对方的辩解原样端回去，用一个反问拆穿它。
And now you're telling me (something) was an accident?
当面质疑对方借口时用；语气带刺，对朋友要收着点。
And you expect me to believe that? ／ So that was an accident too?

你迟早会杀人的。
用过去推断句断定对方的本性，听上去像结论，不像骂人。
You would've (done something) sooner or later.
下判断、说一个人本性难改时用；口气很重，别对亲近的人说。
You were bound to do it eventually. ／ It was only a matter of time with you.

would've 读成 wood-uv，killed 结尾轻收。
You would've crashed sooner or later driving like that. 你那样开车迟早会撞的。

好吧，等你有了答案，告诉我一声。
没有威胁，却把主动权攥在自己手里，平静得让人无处可退。

不逼对方、却留后手时用；职场上很常用，语气保持平和。

下一章 · 04get to the bottom of查个水落石出这场戏：审讯室逼问骚乱目击者字面是「真正的模范人物」，实际是反讽，等于说「你可真是个人物」。台词 You're a real class act 就是在对方念完一长串罪状后，冷冷地讽刺他。
固定说法是 sooner or later。台词 You would've killed somebody sooner or later 就是「你早晚都得弄死个人」，用来说某件坏事注定会发生。
be responsible for 是「对某事负责、是某事的原因」；be responsible to 多指「对某人（上司、老板）负责」。台词 responsible for the death of an eight-year-old boy 就是在指控他造成了孩子的死。
法律里说 breaking and entering，常指破门或破窗进入别人的房子。台词 three counts of breaking and entering at 13 就是「十三岁三项非法闯入」。
意思是「告诉我一声、通知我」，后面可以接具体内容。台词 when you do have an answer, let me know 就是「等你有答案了，告诉我一声」，语气比 tell me 客气。
