对亲近的人半开玩笑地拒绝并表示担心时用；对不熟的人说会显得像管教。

口语

never 重读，when you've 连读，句尾下沉。

I'm never getting in a car with you when you've been up all night. 你熬了一整夜，我绝不坐你的车。

一句话把半辈子的交代说完，省略主语反倒像自言自语。

Bought the ..., gave it to ...

向人交代自己为家人做过什么、带点自嘲时用；正式声明里别这么省主语。

I bought it and handed it over. ／ I handed the whole place to him.

口语

Bought 和 gave 重读，though 轻带，逗号处各停半拍。

Bought the house, fixed it up, gave it to my sister. 我买了那房子，翻修好，送给了我姐。

用一句反事实的指控收尾，把弟弟的宿命说得无法反驳。

You'd be right there ... if ... , and you know it.

跟熟人摊牌、点破对方老毛病时用；对长辈或同事说就太伤人。

You'd be doing the same thing if he were here. ／ You know that's true.

口语

right there 重读，if 前提降调，know it 咬住收尾。

用一句冷话来交代难堪的家事时用，熟人之间可以；对刚认识的人说太重，要看时机。

口语

washed away 连读，fucking storm 加重，句尾放平收住。

The old house washed away in a storm, and nobody rebuilt it. 老房子在一场暴雨里冲没了，没人再重建。
