What's really going on

The scene is the moment the investigation finally gets a look inside the suspect's world, and the moment it runs out of room. The objects are suggestive — two windbreakers like the Stine scene, gloves in the same size, guns kept against schoolchildren — and the search leans on coincidence until the evidence is tested. When ballistics, prints and handwriting all fail to match, the case asks for one more opinion and then gets a verdict: "Fellas, he's not your guy."
