1960年有人第一次到东非，觉得一个物种竟能威胁荒野的存续，inconceivable that（简直无法想象）。马赛语里这片地方叫无尽的平原：同一个点可以一只动物都看不到，第二天早上却涌来一百万头角马，几天后又消失在地平线外。大群都能被平原 swallow up（整个吞没），难怪觉得没有尽头。科学家和儿子乘飞机跟着兽群，发现少了广袤完好的草原，兽群会萎缩，整个生态会 come crashing down（轰然整个垮掉）。落点一句：荒野 far from unlimited（远算不上无限），它有限，需要保护。形容超出想象、整个吞掉、突然崩塌、强调其实有限，这几句都能用。

简直无法想象，语气很重。那时候觉得一个物种竟能威胁荒野存续，超出当时的想象，不是轻轻的「没想到」。
把路线标绘下来。兽群渡河、穿过林地、越过国界，移动路线被标到图上，就是 charted them。记录一群动物怎么走，可以用。
里面完全没有。同一个地方 totally empty of animals，是一只动物都没有。说场地里某样东西一点不剩，用 empty of，比单说没有更彻底。
