「从……辞职」，后面接单位。菲尔丁说 I shall resign from the college，就是如果阿齐兹被判有罪，他就辞掉学院的工作。
「等待判决」，await 比 wait for 更书面。菲尔丁说 I shall await the verdict of the court，表示他不会凭猜测下结论，而是看法庭怎么判。
意思是「尽量少、能免则免」。有人说 don't go out any more than you can help，就是让女士们非必要别出门，能不出门就不出门。
