Bruno Defends Mirabel, Explained：want to help

What's really going on

The scene is Bruno's moment to undo years of being the family's scapegoat, and he does it by taking on even more blame. He steps out of hiding to say that the disaster is not Mirabel's fault but his own, since he gave her the vision in the first place: "I gave her a vision! It was me!" It is both a confession and a rescue, because the family would rather blame someone than admit the miracle itself is failing. His line, "She only wanted to help," restates what everyone overlooked, that Mirabel acted out of love, not malice. The reunion that follows, with Julieta saying, "Mi amor, I was so worried," quietly shows the family already shifting from accusation back to care. Bruno's return is the film's way of saying the buried truth has to come out before anything can be rebuilt.
