說 pregnable，指陣地能被攻破，是軍事裡的書面詞。戲裡將軍看著「蟻丘」說目標 certainly pregnable。
指「為……作證、打包票」。戲裡有人說 I can vouch for that，就是「這我可以作證」。
指「達到、不辜負某種期望或信條」。戲裡說 the colonel never failed to live up to it，就是「他從沒讓那套信條落空」。
relief 除了「救濟」，在軍事裡指換防或接防部隊。戲裡問 how did your relief come off，就是「昨晚換防進行得怎麼樣」。
