Mirabel comes to Isabela hoping to make peace with a hug, but the sisters end up in a shouting match instead. It is Isabela's confession that turns the scene: she never wanted to marry Mariano, and she has been playing the perfect daughter her whole life. "I've been stuck being perfect my whole entire life!"
Isabela Says She Never Wanted a Perfect Life
❝ Monólogo · 5 frases Isabela grows something of her own
She sings from a crooked new plant all the way to it's mine, and the perfect act splits in the melody.
Mirabel goes to Isabela's room hoping to repair things with a hug, but Isabela is furious and the two fight. Only when Isabela admits that she never wanted to marry Mariano, and that she has spent her life pretending to be perfect, does the tone change. The sisters finally embrace, and Isabela's flowers come out wild and new.
The fight is the point, because it is the first time the two sisters say true things out loud. Mirabel arrives armed with a plan and a hug, which only makes Isabela angrier, and she fires back with everything she has been holding: that Mirabel ruins things, that she has no idea of the pressure she lives under. "I've been stuck being perfect my whole entire life!" is the line that reframes the character: the golden child is a prisoner, not a favourite, and she names the marriage she was pushed into as one more performance. What follows is not a tidy apology but a release. The tone that hides behind her smile gives way to something she made herself, uneven and beautiful, and the sisters reconcile because Isabela finally stops being perfect. The song that follows is the sound of the mask coming off.
