伊芙剛被一群手指人逼到牆角，戴面具的人出手救了她，一開口卻是一段繞口令般的自我介紹。In lieu of（代替）那些太普通的綽號，他要給自己起個名號——於是有了 Vichyssoise of Verbiage（辭藻的濃湯）這句自嘲。想學會把話說得又正式又漂亮，他的獨白是現成範本。

手指人把伊芙逼進死巷，戴面具的男人出手相救，隨後帶她登上屋頂，用一段幾乎每個詞都以 V 開頭的獨白介紹自己。他說 In lieu of（代替）那些太普通的綽號，他要給自己起個名號；談到面具他反問：問一個戴面具的人是誰，正是他說的 The paradox of（……的矛盾）；最後他自嘲這段話是 Vichyssoise of Verbiage（辭藻的濃湯），囉嗦到極點。接著他引爆議會大樓，把爆炸當成獻給正義女神的演出，邀伊芙一起看。想在任何需要正式又俏皮的場面開口，這三句都能借用。

可以說 play my part。V 救下伊芙後只輕描淡寫一句 I merely played my part（我不過是演好了自己的角色），用來回應誇獎、表現謙虛特別自然。
指「……本身就很矛盾的地方」。V 說的是 the paradox of asking a masked man who he is，即「問一個戴面具的人他是誰」這件事本身就很荒謬。
不是，是他自嘲。字面是「辭藻的濃湯」，意思就是「囉嗦到極點」。他剛說完一大串 V 開頭的話，用這句給自己找臺階，語氣是幽默的。
有「動用、號召」的意思。V 說 call upon the entire orchestra（動用整支樂隊），把爆炸和音樂說成一場演出，是很形象的說法。
