Capítulo 10 de 13 · 4'35"
The mission's promise collapses: what Cooper thought was a way to save everyone turns out to be "all a sham," and the equation that was supposed to rescue Earth was never solvable from the ground. The scene turns grief into betrayal, ending with Cooper asking to go home.
Plan A Was a Sham
An Unforgivable Lie
On the Endurance, a message from Earth brings news that Murph has grown up and that an old man has died. Then the truth lands: Plan A was never real - the equation "couldn't reconcile relativity with quantum mechanics," and the only plan left is a colony far from Earth. Cooper, who says he didn't know, asks to go home.
The scene's cruelty is that it dismantles a promise and a person at once. Plan A was the story that kept everyone working and hoping; learning it was "all a sham" means the dead and the dying were told a lie to buy time. The equation turns out to be half an answer - it "couldn't reconcile relativity with quantum mechanics" - and the missing data sits inside a black hole no one can enter. Brand's defense is cold logic: someone "was prepared to destroy his own humanity in order to save the species." The reply is the film's moral center: "An incredible sacrifice is being made by the people on Earth who are gonna die!" What looked like a rescue mission becomes a count of who was written off.

“There are some things that aren't meant to be known.”
It names a limit on knowledge itself, and the limit is the point.
literary
“He was prepared to destroy his own humanity in order to save the species.”
The whole moral cost in one line: to save everyone, he would sacrifice himself.
Formal
“This was all a sham.”
Five words collapse an entire belief: short, final, and brutal.
Neutral
“An incredible sacrifice is being made by the people on Earth who are gonna die!”
It reclaims the word sacrifice for ordinary people left to die, flipping the film's moral framing in one sentence.

Siguiente · 11one last crack atLa escena: Cooper Chooses Home Over the MissionHe says he didn't; he insists he believed he was going to save the people on Earth, which is why he came. Brand says his father had solved the equation before he left, and Cooper answers that it was only half the answer.
It couldn't reconcile relativity with quantum mechanics. The missing data could only be observed inside a black hole, past the horizon, which the laws of nature do not allow them to see.
Plan B is a colony: instead of moving everyone off Earth, they would start the human race over on a new planet. It is the fallback once Plan A is exposed as impossible.
So people would keep working and cooperating instead of panicking. He believed that getting humanity to act together was itself necessary, even if it rested on a lie.
He asks to go home. The line "Let me go home" closes the scene and marks how far the mission has turned from hope into grief.
