Capítulo 5 de 25 · 2'06"
The raid looks like a showdown, but V plays it as comedy: "I hadn't expected you to be quite so Johnny-on-the-spot," he mocks the police for arriving so fast. They think they have him trapped — "Bad luck, chummy" — right before he slips away. The state's reply is a broadcast declaring him dead.
V Mocks the Police Raid
❝ Monólogo · 14 frases The official news report
It drips with heroism and safety while contradicting everything the viewer just saw.
After broadcasting his message from Jordan Tower, V waits for the police and mocks their speed — he had not expected them to be quite so Johnny-on-the-spot. When an officer says they were there before he even started, V answers that he is not so sure, and escapes. The state's response is immediate: a news report calls him a psychotic terrorist and says he was shot and killed.
The scene runs on the gap between what the screen shows and what the broadcast says. V is caught in a raid but never rattled; his line 'I hadn't expected you to be quite so Johnny-on-the-spot' turns the arrest into a performance, and when the police claim 'We were here before you even started,' he simply answers, 'Oh, I don't know about that.' The state's reply is pure spin: the report brands him 'a psychotic terrorist, identified only as the letter V,' insists he attacked unarmed civilians, and announces 'the terrorist was shot and killed.' The final lines, spoken over the broadcast, weigh whether someone like him can be human — 'Some part of him's human' — and conclude that, for better or worse, she is stuck with him. The regime needs him dead on air; the film keeps him alive in the shadows.

Siguiente · 06in all probabilityLa escena: V Shows Evey the Shadow GalleryHe has already won. The raid is theater to him, so he plays the polite gentleman, complimenting their response time and calling it bad luck, while he escapes.
It is propaganda. The regime needs the raid to look like a success, so the broadcast declares the danger over and the terrorist dead, even though V is alive.
It means someone is right there and on time, almost too eager. V uses it sarcastically because the police arrived so quickly that it spoils his plan.
They are people watching the broadcast, commenting on a story of a man who may abandon the woman who saved him. Their lines mirror V and Evey: she is now stuck with him.
To make him a monster. Saying he used weapons against unarmed civilians frames his broadcast as a message of hate, which justifies the state's crackdown.
