Capítulo 3 de 10 · 3'02"
A college graduate mocks Utah kids who dress as punks and chant a British slogan. "You don't live your life by lyrics" draws the line: a song is not a life. Under the joke sits anger that Salt Lake fawns over English bands while those bands look down on Americans.

He stacks the origin questions, throws them out, and replaces them with harder, faster, and more love.
A graduate says college is over and the system held. Bob and the others had sworn to do nothing and waste their educated minds. In Utah, punks have grown, and so have posers who dress the part and chant "Anarchy in the U.K." The question is what good that is in America, and the answer given is that you do not live your life by lyrics.
The rant is about belonging, not album reviews. People who looked like punks "did it for fashion," then repeated "Anarchy in the U.K.," a Sex Pistols line from England. Later the line is "You don't live your life by lyrics." A slogan from another country is no use "to those of us in Utah." England gets called nothing more than a big American state. The sore point comes next: Salt Lake fawns over English bands, and "All we were to them was a bunch of hicks." The label, the boots, and the rodeo are all refused. "By definition, I'm not a redneck." "Oh, the sun never sets on the British empire" is flipped into "Well, the sun never sets on my asshole." When the talk turns to who started punk, the Sex Pistols or the Ramones, the contest is dropped: "I don't know who started it, and I don't give a fuck." The closing claim is doing it harder, faster, and with more love.

Informal
“We were gonna waste our educated minds. We had no other way of fighting.”
Wasting an education is framed as the only fight left, so the laziness sounds deliberate.
Informal
“All we were to them was a bunch of hicks.”
It shrinks a whole group into one insult, so the anger feels like injured pride.
Informal
“By definition, I'm not a redneck, and I ain't a fuckin' hick.”
The dictionary voice makes the swearing feel like a closing argument.
Informal
“Well, the sun never sets on my asshole!”
He steals a proud empire slogan and sticks it somewhere no empire wants credit.
Informal
“I don't know who started it, and I don't give a fuck.”
Admitting ignorance and then refusing the argument makes the shrug sound final.
Informal
All we were to them was a bunch of hicks. Well, you know what? I'm not a fuckin' hick! I don't wear cowboy boots. I hate the fuckin' rodeo. Horses smell like shit to me... and I don't fuck anyone in my own bloodline. By definition, I'm not a redneck, and I ain't a fuckin' hick.
Another thing that pissed me off, talking about who started punk rock. Was it Sex Pistols in England? Was it the Ramones and the Velvet Underground in New York? Is it the Ramones? Is it the Sex Pistols? I don't know who started it, and I don't give a fuck. The one thing I do know is that we did it harder... goddamn it, we did it faster, and we definitely did it with more love, baby! You can't take that away from us.
Siguiente · 04goddess of the sceneLa escena: Mike Looks Like a Total NerdThe line is "that's all you ever heard from these trendy fucks." It points at people whose talk is English bands, with the sample "Did you hear the new Smiths album? It's fuckin' terrif."
The system is called strong, and there just were not enough of them. Bob and the rest had made an oath to do absolutely nothing. They were going to waste their educated minds, with no other way of fighting.
Salt Lake fawns over them, but the complaint is that those English bands only insult Americans, and "All we were to them was a bunch of hicks."
The sentence before is "Oh, the sun never sets on the British empire." The next one keeps that boast and sticks it on "my asshole."
