Go back to your lives, citizens. Show's over.「Woody Rescues a Broken Buzz」を読み解く
What's really going on
Buzz spends most of this scene at his lowest: he cannot fly, he is not a Space Ranger, and he says so out loud: "Oh, I'm a sham!" He has been scrubbed and dressed in doll's clothes, and the hat is the symbol of everything he has lost. Woody, who once envied him, is now the one calling him back to himself. Then the rescue arrives and turns into a false accusation, since the others only see Buzz lying motionless and assume the worst. The scene keeps shifting who needs saving: Buzz needs Woody, Woody needs Buzz, and neither can get home alone. It ends with the whole group united and Buzz, for the first time, using his space talk as a joke rather than a delusion.
